Donated Items Benefits Baldwin County Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch

FAIRHOPE, AL, January 15, 2007 - - Retro Cycle Work, Inc., of Fairhope held a “stuff” drive for the Baldwin County Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch throughout the holiday season.  To help kick it off the bike shop held a Holiday Bike Ride-in in November, when attendees brought household items and enjoyed bar-be-que and live music by the popular blues band X-Centrix.

Among the items donated were under garments, personal hygiene supplies, kitchen supplies, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, tea and dry beverage mixes.  In addition, nearly $600 was collected and donated to the ranch.

“Most people don’t know about the needs of the Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch,” said Kent Stocker, co-owner of Retro Cycle Works.  “These are good kids who were down on their luck.   Now they are in a good place and have great futures.”

The bike shop is always willing to accept donations in the Baldwin County Sheriffs’ Boys Ranch behalf.  Items can be dropped off at the shop or at the Boys Ranch, which is located in Summerdale.

“We adopted the ranch several years ago when learned about their needs,” said shop co-owner Buck Terry.  “They are just like your own family - they need these items on a regular basis.”
